Kathmandu [Nepal], July 15 – A five-member delegation led by Nepal’s Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rubi Kumari departed for China on Tuesday to participate in the 5th China-Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation.
The forum will be held in Nyingchi in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region and will run till July 17 according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri said Deputy Speaker Kumari is scheduled to address the forum, which brings together participants to discuss issues related to trans-Himalayan cooperation and regional engagement.
During the visit Kumari is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Wang Junzheng, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Xizang Autonomous Regional Committee in Linzhi, Xizang.
The discussions are expected to take place alongside the forum’s official programme although the Federal Parliament Secretariat has not disclosed the agenda for the meeting.
The delegation’s visit comes as Nepal and China continue regular high-level exchanges under their longstanding bilateral relationship. Officials have not announced any agreements or joint statements in connection with the trip.
The five-member delegation is scheduled to return to Nepal on July 20 after completing its official engagements in China.
The China-Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum serves as a platform for dialogue on regional cooperation involving countries connected by the Himalayan region. Nepal has regularly participated in previous editions of the forum through government and parliamentary representatives as part of its broader diplomatic engagement with China.
