Visiting Indian Army Chief receives Guard of Honor at Nepal Army Headquarters

After planting pecan tree sapling and paying homage to martyrs, Indian Army Chief now holding official meeting with Nepal Army Chief Purna Chandra Thapa


KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane inspected and received the Guard of Honour at the Army Headquarters today morning.

He arrived in Nepal at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Chief of Army Staff of Nepal Army Purna Chandra Thapa.

Prior to the inspection of the Guard of Honor, Indian Army Chief Naravane paid homage to martyrs by laying a wreath at the Martyr’s Memorial in the Nepal Army Pavilion.

He also planted a pecan tree sapling in the premises of the Army Headquarters.

He will be handing over medical equipment and materials to the Nepal Army at an event later today, according to the Nepal Army sources.

The Indian Army Chief is now holding an official meeting with his Nepali counterpart Thapa.

Indian Army Chief Naravane is scheduled to be conferred upon the rank of an honorary General of the Nepali Army by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari tommorrow amidst an investiture ceremony at Shital Niwas today evening.

Naravane is the 18th Indian Army Chief to receive the honorary title of the Nepal Army from Nepal as part of age-old tradition of conferment of the honorary rank of generalship between Nepal and India.
