Minister Thapa pledges to cooperate with civil servants

KATHMANDU – Newly appointed Minister for Water Supply Mani Chandra Thapa today pledged to cooperate with government employees. Problems at the ministry would be resolved through cooperation with civil servants having the responsibility to lead the ministry, he said.

Saying that he has taken care of the ministry as a minister for the first time after his long political career, he said, “Our main responsibility is to conduct elections.” Minister Thapa assumed office today.

On the occasion, Ministry Secretary Madhav Belbase said the ministry had challenges of supplying water to many areas across the country where water sources have been drying up, and it needs cooperation to manage drainage.

The Ministry Spokesperson Ritesh Kumar Shakya reminded that the ministry lacks structures and workforce despite having a big responsibility.

Assuming the office, Minister Thapa signed the documents relating to the Water Supply, Hygiene and Sanitation strategies to be forwarded in coordination between the provincial government and local levels.
