गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Nepal ∕ Agricultural programme to involve youths losing jobs to COVID-19 Nepal Agricultural programme to involve youths losing jobs to COVID-19 KathmanduPati October 11, 2020 File Photo KATHMANDU : The Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives in the Lumbini province has forwarded an agriculture programme which would employ youths who have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis. Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Arati Poudel shared that the state government has introduced a labour insurance and provident fund for labourers in the agriculture sector to attract youth. Minister Poudel further said that loans at subsidized interest rate, production-based grants and marketization have been incorporated in the new agriculture programme, which will prioritize employment to youths affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Talking to journalists at Sandhikharka today, the Minister also informed that initiatives have been taken forward to make Lumbini Province a model one and create a pocket area for tea and honey production. On the occasion, Ministry’s Secretary Rewati Raman Poudel said that the programme was oriented towards increasing production and inspiring youths to be self-employed.
